Its been 18 notepads this year (and with each notepad being 140 pages long – I’d say I’ve done a lot of writing!). And my computer says 6264 photos is the 2023 total, so I’ve had a good look back through (and the ‘Memorable Days’ list that goes in the front of each years diary is always a good reminder of the goings on).
I always photograph the papers we buy – and this was how 2023 began…

Always done here on our fire in January – The English winter tradition of crumpet toasting (an explaination of crumpets: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crumpet)

What the January frosts did to our garden…

Sooty the 19 year old cat enjoying a catnip tea bag in February…

My mother being her childish self and jumping in a muddy puddle on our first country walk of the year (February)…

Her birthday visit to a light spectacle (Compton Verney museum https://www.comptonverney.org.uk)…

And the great snowfall one week later…

Signs of spring eventually beginning in April…

Our streets Coronation celebrations in May… (and King Charles the teddy bear looking on)

When summer eventually arrived… (this was June)

When someone else offered to take a photo at charity event in London that month…

A bit of heatstroke occurring in July …

The August wildlife observations…

When I got drenched in Brussels during my birthday celebrations (and a couple of odd places spotted on the 3 day trip)…

A dragonfly in September who wished to pose for the camera…

The very first signs of autumn (seen on a walk round Charlcote Park) in October…

A chicken confused by the October heat who decided to have a very late moult (usually done in June)…

The days begining to shorten again in November…

My first attempt at yule log baking (for Christmas dinner purposes)…

And the final headlines of 2023…

And wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2024!
