My October favourites

With all the named storms we’ve had in England recently, the fire has been lit a lot during the gusts and rain, and a good bit of bellowing has been done with good old traditional bellows!

… but some sunshine did brighten the sky above a very tranquil lake seen in the countryside when we ventured out…

…despite all the mud that remained along a lot of the country paths – meaning wellie boots were essential.

Hundreds of these padlocks line a local footbridge – it’s a long tradition of ‘love locks’

These woodland giants have clearly never heard of a ceiling; and while out on a walk with Uncle – they were looking surprisingly green for October!

Nobody told the sheep the road was for cars…

… and some excellent knitting shows what can be done with sheep’s wool! This little thing I spotted (it says ‘by Doris’ on it) was brightening up an old wooden window.

And back home, the 3 hens now inhabiting the garden are liking their new house (despite the weather)…

…and doing excellent egg producing (I won’t say ‘egg-cellent’…). I made an attempt at stollen baking, but it’s going to take a lot of practice.
